Samuel is a ranch manager at Crawford Cattle LLC in Northern Nevada. His management philosophy developed from a unique combination of years in the saddle and years hitting the books. Samuel has worked on cattle ranches in five states, including his home state of Idaho. He earned his bachelor’s in animal science from Brigham Young University-Idaho, and his master’s in agricultural economics from New Mexico State University. He finds it disappointing that PhD candidates earn the title ‘Doctor’, but master’s degree holders aren’t called ‘Master.’ He’s a lifelong student and a willing mentor. He still rides the range as part of his job, but his evolving role as a risk manager has him using his laptop more than his saddle, and his pen more than his rope.
